The Delhi Police has launched a probe following the videos of a group of men assaulting some people and calling them "Bangladeshi" that went viral on the social media, officials stated on Friday.
The police are trying to determine the location where the alleged assault took place.
This comes as student protests in Bangladesh turned into widespread looting and rioting across the nation, with minority communities, especially Hindus, coming under attack. As reported by Bangladesh's Daily Star, several houses and businesses established by Hindus were targeted by mobs. The Jammat-e-Islami has also admitted to targeting Hindu temples.
The video circulating on social media shows a disturbing scene where a group of men is seen pursuing and assaulting several individuals. The attackers, who appear to be acting as a mob, can be heard accusing their victims of being Bangladeshis.
