A student died and three others were injured after a shooting attack inside the Sapopemba State School, in the East Zone of São Paulo, on Monday morning (23). The government of São Paulo confirmed the information.
According to the Public Security Department, a 15-year-old teenager, also a student, entered the school armed and fired the shots. He was apprehended along with the weapon. As of the last update of this report, the police had not released the motive for the attack or the origin of the weapon.
In total, three students were hit by the gunfire. The victim who succumbed to his injuries had been shot in the head. Two others were wounded in the chest and collarbone. A fourth student was injured while trying to escape during the attack, according to a statement released by the state government.
The injured were taken to the emergency room at Sapopemba General Hospital. No details were released about their health condition.
Still in a note, the state administration regretted the incident and said that the priority is to provide assistance to the victims' families.
“The government of SP deeply regrets and stands in solidarity with the families of the victims of the attack that occurred on Monday morning (23) at the Sapopemba State School. Currently, the priority is to assist the victims and provide psychological support to students, education professionals and family members.”
