Peruvian Police Perform An Excorsism On A Girl Having An Epileptic seizure

An unusual incident involving National Police officers went viral on social media due to their unusual intervention in an alleged medical case. Instead of following the proper protocol to treat what appeared to be a seizure, the officers opted to try to perform an exorcist ritual. The incident occurred in the Lima district of La Victoria.

The events took place around 1 p.m. on Thursday, at a parcel company located at the intersection of Jirón Luna Pizarro and Avenida Bausate y Meza. At that moment, a teenager who was running errands at the establishment with her mother began to have a seizure. The mother and several witnesses called the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) to request the assistance of an ambulance. However, due to the delay of the medical staff, police officers and security agents arrived.

According to the images released, the police mistook the young girl's seizure for a supposed case of demonic possession . Without following the medical care protocol, the agents immobilized the minor, holding her tightly to the ground. To the surprise of witnesses, one of the policemen placed a white crucifix on the young woman's forehead while others began to pray the "Our Father" out loud.
