Two police officers were stabbed in Bay City while attempting to arrest a man who had his 1-year-old child in his vehicle during a confrontation.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 11 when officers approached Eshawn Langston regarding a bond violation. In the video, you can see officers repeatedly asking Langston to exit his Jeep while he denied violating his bond conditions.
Officers expressed concern about breaking the vehicle's windows due to the presence of the young child, who was sitting on Langston's lap during the encounter.
As bystanders gathered at the scene, some urged Langston to comply, while others criticized the police response.
As time went on, officers realized Langston was not going to comply and exit the vehicle, so officers broke a window to gain entry.
Authorities said Langston then put his vehicle in drive, striking a police car. Officers managed to rescue the child through a passenger door before removing Langston from the vehicle.
Police said the child was uninjured, and they deployed a Taser just once during the arrest.
Two officers who had been attempting to apprehend Langston discovered they had been stabbed during the confrontation.
In the video, you can hear their calls for medical assistance. One officer said, "I think I am stabbed" and another responded, "so am I."
One of the injured officers had already returned to duty as of Wednesday night, while the other is expected to resume work soon.
Police said Langston was seen holding a knife in the footage. He remains in custody facing multiple charges, including two counts of assaulting police causing injury.
