The man who was detained by LA residents after they accused him of trying to start a fire in their community, is an illegal immigrant, according to Bill Melugin.
The man illegally crossed the border from Mexico, according to Fox.
The illegal was initially detained by residents after they saw him walking around their neighborhood with a blow torch.
LAPD says they only charged the man with felony probation violation because they found “no probable cause of suspicion of arson.”
“There was not enough probable cause to arrest this person on arson or suspicion of arson, and therefore, this person was arrested on a felony probation violation,” LAPD said.
He is in custody.
