SAGINAW, MI — Police are investigating an attempted stabbing inside a Saginaw gas station, an assault captured on video.
The night of Jan. 9, a man his 40s entered the Sunoco station at 1607 S. Michigan Ave. on the city’s West Side. Surveillance camera footage shows him approaching the counter with bottled beverages and asking the clerk for some tobacco products.
As he stands at the counter, another male wearing gray jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, and eyeglasses approaches from an aisle and stands several feet behind him. The first customer briefly turns to notice him.
A third man then enters the store and walks between the two others as he waits his turn in line.
Without warning, the bespectacled man reaches forward and grabs the first customer by his jacket and lunges toward him with a knife in his right hand. The first customer wheels around and shoves his assailant, who then runs out the door.
