A video posted to social media shows a United Airlines gate agent being punched by a passenger at Washington Dulles International Airport.
"My first thought was pure horror," said Richie Johnsen of the Machinists Union, which represents the gate agent and also happens to be the largest airline union in North America.
The shocking video was taken Thursday night at gate D12, where it appears a passenger, clearly having a rough day, decided to punch a customer service agent in the face—because why not? The agent then fell dramatically to the ground, possibly pondering life choices.
"The agent who got assaulted will be fine physically," Johnsen reassured. "He did need to go to the hospital—he’s a little banged up and bruised, but nothing that a good story to tell won’t fix."
The passenger in question, identified as Christopher Crittenden, 54, from Frederick, Maryland, has now earned himself some new charges: assault and disorderly conduct. Oh, and United Airlines has decided he’s no longer welcome on their flights, which seems like the least they could do
