MassArt has confirmed that one of its students is seen in a video verbally harassing a Trump supporter wearing a white and gold “47” hat while walking on a Boston sidewalk, behavior that officials say doesn’t reflect the school’s values.
“While we cannot share further details about individual student matters, we want to affirm that the behavior displayed in the video does not reflect the values of MassArt,” the school said in a statement shared with the Herald Friday afternoon. “The College is committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members of our community.
“We take this matter seriously, and any behavior that violates MassArt’s Community Standards is addressed through our established conduct process,” the school added.
Nicky Miceli, a 21-year-old student at Curry College, says no one should have to endure the verbal harassment he encountered while wearing the Trump hat, an incident he believes reinforces how political violence is “getting much worse.”
