A 9-year-old New York girl is lucky to be alive after being attacked by her neighbor's pit bull.
Isn't it time to ban pit bulls?
Daniella Schlauch says she is lucky to be alive after her neighbor's pit bull tried ripping her head off.
"I didn’t have time to think but I knew I had to save my daughter’s life," the girl's father said to a local news outlet.
"The dog just jumped right on her. I was coming out of the house. I just jumped right on his back and held his head down so he couldn’t shake."
Schlauch's family said she nearly lost her eye and had to have her ear reattached.
The little girl suffered a concussion and needed hundreds of stitches and staples in her head, hand, and foot.
She will need to see a plastic surgeon for a follow-up surgery.
The girl's brother says authorities are acting like the dog has more rights than she does as they're trying to have a judge order the dog to be removed or euthanized.
