This is the shocking moment a driver 'tries to hit a cyclist with his white BMW' before attacking him with a cane after a bike was thrown at his car.

Video footage shows the cyclist appearing to have a problem with the BMW driver after the pair stopped in a bus lane on Edgware Road in North London.

The two can be seen to exchange threats before the cyclist turns his back.

But as the white BMW prepares to drive off, the cyclist opts to launch his bicycle into the path of the car.

While the cyclist then tries to seek refuge on an island in the middle of the road, the BMW's driver puts the car into reverse.

Concerned onlookers can be heard saying: 'Oh no, he's going to run him over.'

A second eyewitness shouts: 'Yo, wait, chill.'

Whilst the cyclist weaves his way around the car to avoid being knocked down, he quickly approaches the driver's side window.

He grabs the driver and begins throwing some punches at the man who is still in his car before an onlooker tries to break them up.

The cyclist then becomes annoyed with the onlooker and appears ready to fight him.

At the same time, eyewitnesses recorded the moment the driver heads to his boot before he removes what appears to be a large cane.

The fuming BMW driver then begins attacking the cyclist with the 'cane' who keeps trying to weave out of the way.

The fight, which was viewed by dozens of onlookers on the street, then settles down, and the two men part ways.
