An illegal street takeover turned into a confrontation Friday evening in Drancy ( Seine-Saint-Denis ), where a gunshot seriously injured a man during a police intervention. A police officer was also injured during the operation, but without being shot, according to initial information from the Bobigny prosecutor's office.
The incident took place near the Yuri Gagarin housing project, as police intervened to break up a street takeover. "During an intervention at an urban rodeo, an individual was injured by police gunfire," the prosecutor's office confirmed, adding that the exact circumstances of the altercation remained very "unclear" due to the number of people involved.
Two investigations have been opened into the events that occurred Friday evening in Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis), where a young adult was shot and injured during a police intervention, the Bobigny prosecutor's office told AFP on Saturday.
