After a young white boy was beaten at a Madison Indiana park, the community, local leaders, including a group of bikers, held a meet-up to support the victim, Jayson.
The mother of the boy says he was at the park when he was jumped. She says there has been a history of issues with the boys in the community.
"These kids are so incredibly disrespectful. They throw trash over my fence in my yard, throw rocks at my dogs, last year were shooting the dogs with orbeez, and anytime I confront them and ask for a parent it's threats of their parents have guns and I don't want to meet them," the boy's mother, Dezi May, said in a post shared by Kevin Hummel Sr. on Facebook.
“There seems to be no accountability for the young ones or anyone able to track down their parents.”
“I'm thankful Jayson is ok. And praying so so hard to be able to move. Also praying for justice, that these kids and their parents be held accountable and for change to just sweep our community so that this be a safe place.”
Following the incident, local leaders put together a gathering at a local park to support Jayson and to put an end to "youth violence."
"Narrative changed and the adults knew it had to be about all the boys and any other youth whom find themselves in that situation!!" said local Yolanda Wilkins with a photo of the boys "making up."
"Today was a start, and i will continue to support the youth and stand up for the youth when needed ... if they can hug an forgive than so can we."
It’s unclear if Jayson’s family will be pursuing charges.
