Edmond, OK - New video showed the moments that led to an Edmond officer being stabbed and sent to a hospital more than a month ago.
On May 1, Officer Caleb Hodam had pulled over a car near 15th Street and Broadway when he noticed a man coming over his shoulder. Hodam and the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Ocean Hudson, were then involved in a fight that took the two to the ground.
The altercation, according to police, involved a knife and led to Hodam being stabbed at least twice while urging Hudson to stop. Shortly afterward, a pedestrian came up to help the officer.
Hodam's body camera fell off during the fight, and at one point showed the pain on his face. Hudson was shouting at the officer and even spit on him.
"Shoot me, man. I got nothing to live for. I'm 22," Hudson told Hodam.
"Yes, you do, buddy. You've got everything to live for," Hodam replied.
Another officer arrived about two minutes after the altercation started. With no cooperation from Hudson, police resorted to using a stun gun.
More first responders arrived shortly afterward and took Hodam to OU Health. He underwent surgery, was released from the hospital and is on the road to recovery.
Hudson was arrested and faces six different charges.
