A woman recently lost her life after participating in a dangerous TikTok challenge that involved setting her clothes on fire. The woman ignited her attire during a live stream after she lost a bet to a fellow TikToker. The alarming incident happened when the woman was home with her family in Jászság, Hungary.
She was identified as a mother of two children, whom she shares with her husband, who commutes to Germany for work. On the day of the incident, she was streaming from the hallway of their apartment while her husband, their children, and the kids’ grandmother were in a different section of the house. When the challenge went horribly wrong, the woman’s husband heard her screaming as she ran around in the hallway.
According to a report, her husband ran to extinguish the flames. He told a Hungarian news outlet that he used water from a pot in the sink to douse the fire, while his mother-in-law helped tear the shirt from her body. After putting out the fire, they brought her to the bathroom and gave her a cold shower before calling emergency services. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, but her condition worsened when she developed pneumonia.
Despite undergoing surgery, the Hungarian woman died from the infection. Authorities are now investigating the case under suspicion of aiding suicide and have already questioned the TikToker with whom she made the dangerous bet. According to reports, the challenge required the loser to ignite their clothing and keep it on for 20 seconds before removing it. However, the flames quickly engulfed her clothes, making it impossible for her to remove them.
