Charges are pending against a man accused of assaulting two police officers at the North Avenue Walmart, Grand Junction Police said Wednesday.
Police responded to the North Avenue Walmart at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a harassment call.
“Officers learned an adult male was in the parking lot, behaving aggressively and harassing store employees and customers. When officers attempted to contact the individual, he became physically combative and began assaulting officers,” the release stated.
The man has not been identified.
Video of the incident shows a man shoving an officer while another officer is kneeling nearby.
The man goes over to the kneeling officer and punches him then stands over him, at which point the officer on the ground tases the man and the two officers subdue him.
“The suspect was ultimately taken into custody with charges pending,” the release stated. “Two officers sustained injuries during the encounter and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.”
