What was supposed to be a family-friendly night at the movies turned into a full-contact sporting event when Spanish boxer Antonio Barrul decided that the cinema aisle was the right place to throw hands.
Barrul, a six-time national amateur champion who turned professional just last year, was attending a screening of Garfield with his wife and young son in León, Spain. Instead of laughing at cartoon cats, the evening ended with real-life punches after Barrul allegedly took offense to how another man was treating his partner during the film.
Video circulating online shows the 25-year-old boxer calmly standing up, walking past several rows of stunned moviegoers, and confronting the man mid-screening. Words were exchanged. Then restraint left the building.
Within seconds, Barrul unleashed a rapid combination of punches, sending the other man crashing to the floor as horrified families looked on — many of whom probably came for animated comedy, not a live-action boxing demo.
