Wild Footage Shows A Helicopter With 4 People Onboard Crash Into A Bunch Of Trees
20 days ago
A helicopter carrying four people slammed into a stand of trees in a heart-stopping crash captured on video and shared by Diesel Brothers star David Sparks.
The footage shows the aircraft spiraling out of control before disappearing into the trees — a sequence Sparks later confirmed involved his friend Derek and three others on board.
“This is my friend Derek,” Sparks wrote. “And I’m beyond grateful that he and the three other souls on board survived what was a truly terrifying accident.”
According to Sparks, the crash appears to be caused by LTE — Loss of Tail Rotor Effectiveness — a nightmare scenario for helicopter pilots. When the tail rotor can’t generate enough thrust to counter the torque of the main rotor, the aircraft can snap into a violent, uncontrollable spin with little warning.
Despite the chaos, Sparks says Derek did everything right.
“What you’re seeing is the absolute best possible response in a worst-case scenario,” he explained. “There was almost no time to react.”
And in a twist that sounds unbelievable, the trees may have been the difference between survival and tragedy.
“As crazy as it sounds,” Sparks added, “the trees likely helped — slowing the descent, absorbing energy, and possibly saving every life on board.”
All four people survived — a rare outcome in a crash that could have ended very differently.
