A Texas teenager has been arrested after a shocking shooting that left a woman dead while she was simply trying to visit a friend battling cancer.
Police say 18-year-old Darius DeWayne Hall is accused of shooting 34-year-old Marietta Allison in the neck in northwest Houston before robbing her and stealing a vehicle belonging to the cancer patient she had come to see.
The heartbreaking chain of events was described by Allison’s friend, Cassie Daniel, who shared details of the tragedy in an emotional post.
According to Daniel, Allison had arrived at her home but was unable to find parking nearby.
“There wasn’t any parking, so Marietta had driven around the block to find a parking spot, and we heard the gunshot,” Daniel wrote.
Moments later, the devastating truth began to emerge.
Daniel said she was later told that Allison’s heart stopped almost immediately after she was shot in the neck.
“We were later told that her heart stopped immediately when he shot her in the neck,” she said.
Authorities say the suspect then robbed the victim, taking her purse before grabbing the keys to Daniel’s car and driving away in the vehicle belonging to the cancer patient.
Police later arrested Hall in connection with the killing.
Court records reveal the teen was already under a juvenile suspension at the time of the incident and had a history of prior charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The senseless violence has left friends and family devastated, as a visit meant to support a friend fighting cancer instead ended in tragedy.
For many, the case has become yet another grim reminder of a life lost in a crime that, they say, never should have happened.
