HS students stage sit-in at school after suicide, ends in arrest

Students at Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana organize a sit-in during school hours to protest a former student not being given a moment of silence during morning announcements after his suicide. Principal Robin Tobias decided it would be better to disrespect the students and the former student by calling the sit-in a "joke" and having a student detained (later arrested). Robin Tobias stated that there are different procedures for suicides and that having a moment of silence for him would have been "glorifying suicide". In turn, it seems that this whole event has become a "Streisand effect", possibly glorifying suicide more than had the principal simply had a moment of silence earlier in the day paying respect to the deceased former student.
