Man Tells Cop "Shoot me down like Michael Brown" in front of his son

Greer, SC - A Spartanburg County man was arrested after Greer police said he resisted arrest while referencing the shooting of Michael Brown. According to the incident report, an officer noticed 40-year-old Derrick Miller driving without a seatbelt on Sunnyside Drive around 1 p.m. on Monday. Police said the Miller stopped the car, got out and started to walk back towards the officer. The officer told Miller to get back into his car several times, the report said. As Miller opened the door to his car to get back in, the officer said Miller turned around and asked if he was going to shoot him. The officer said he then called for backup and noticed a child was in the car. While attempting to place Miller in handcuffs, the officer said he showed "passive resistance behavior" by interlocking his arms, according to the report. The report said Miller then stated for the officer to "shoot him down like Michael Brown." The officer said he believed Miller was trying to incite a riot. During that time, Miller made multiple reference to Michael Brown, the report said. The officer was able to "bear hug" Miller until other officers arrived. Back up then arrived and Miller was put in handcuffs and transported to the Greer city jail. The report said the child's mother came to the scene and took custody of the child. According to online jail records, Miller is charged with resisting arrest with no assault.
