Surveillance video shows the moment an Erlanger police officer accidentally shot himself in an Over-the-Rhine elevator. The video is from inside the elevator in the Mercer Commons parking garage from January 3. Erlanger Police said in a release that Officer Darryl Jouett adjusted his service weapon which was in his holster when the gun fired. The video shows Officer Jouette remove the gun from the holster and then appear to put the weapon in his coat pocket when it then fired. The bullet ricocheted and hit Jouett in the stomach. His wife was in the elevator with him at the time but wasn't hurt. Jouett is expected to recover. He's been with Erlanger police for 25 years.
