Wisconsin Mayor Casually Posts to Facebook That ‘Muslim’ Obama Destroyed Democracy Bruce Hagen, the mayor of Superior, Wisconsin, is facing scrutiny after writing an offensive social media message about President Barack Obama. WDIO reported that a friend of Hagan’s posted a picture First Lady Michelle Obama on his Facebook wall, to which Hagan responded with a comment meant to insult the president by calling him a Muslim. “Unbelievable! She and her Muslim partner have destroyed the fabric of democracy that was so very hard fought for,” Hagan wrote. Despite the confirmations that he is a Christian, those in disagreement with Obama have used “Muslim” in a derogatory fashion against the President for years, which saw a revitalization recently during Donald Trump‘s campaign. As such, several of the city’s council members said that Hagan’s insult was “inappropriate,” and the mayor has been asked to retract the post or resign. Hagan told reporters that the message was in response to something said by a friend, but declined to elaborate any further than to say he stood by what he said.
