This fascinating footage - filmed from inside a passenger jet as it touches down just before sunset - demonstrates exactly what pilots see from the cockpit and just how skillful they have to be.
As the pilot glides the £20m Boeing 767-300 down to the runway at Manchester Airport, guided by the lightbars, which extend out from the end of the tarmac, there's a clear view of the roads and homes nearby.
