During a panel discussion tonight, CNN anchor Don Lemon let it be known that when he’s out in the public, he’s approached by a number of folks who want to know if President Donald Trump has been kicked out of office yet.
CNN politics reporter Chris Cillizza first described how Trump has radicalized both the left and the right, pointing to his tweeting as part of the problem. However, in his opinion, the “liberal left is more willing to believe anything about Donald Trump.”
He added, “The left is ready to believe if I said ‘I saw Donald Trump have a tail and horns’ people would be like, ‘I knew it!'”
Lemon responded that he likes “to call it Trump Derangement Syndrome,” noting that people will come up to him and ask if the president is “gone yet” and why he hasn’t been impeached.
CNN political commentator Amanda Carpenter jumped in, explaining that much of the public’s views are shaped by the media they consume.
“If you are watching a network that is to the left you are going to believe that Donald Trump is going to be impeached at any moment,” she said. “If you are watching on the right you think Donald Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The truth is somewhere in the middle.”
