Muslim migrants burns 5 teens with acid at train station

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after five teenagers were squirted with acid on a train station platform. Five pals aged between 16 and 18 were all taken to hospital following the attack at Ockendon station in Essex in the early hours of Sunday morning. Lee Elliott, 17, may permanently lose the sight in his left eye and one other teenager suffered potentially life-changing injuries. Another friend was also treated for 'life-changing' injuries to his mouth and tongue.A teenager, from Dagenham, Essex, has now been charged with three counts of occasioning grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and two counts of attempted GBH with intent. He is set to appear at Basildon Youth Court today. Lee's mum Tanya, 43, said her son faces a nervous wait to find out if he will lose the sight in one eye.She said: “They have said the right one (eye) will be ok but there are lots of burns in his left eye. We will have to wait a couple of days to find out if it will be ok." All five youths were taken to hospital suffering from burns to their faces and hands. A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed at the time: "We received a call on Sunday at 12.32am to reports of an incident on West Road in South Ockendon and sent two ambulance officers and two ambulances."At the scene, five persons were treated, two of whom were treated for head injuries while the other three were treated for minor injuries. "After an assessment at scene, all five were taken to hospital for further treatment."
