The Momo meme has parents freaking out. Momo is a nickname given to a sculpture originally called "Mother Bird" created by Japanese artist Keisuka Aisawa, which lives at the Vanilla Gorilla gallery in Tokyo.
It first found it's way to the internet via an Instagram post back in 2016.
Fast forward to 2018 when it randomly popped up on Reddit's /r/creepy. Two weeks later it was reported by Argentinian news outlet, Buenos Aires Times, that police were investigating if a game associated with the image, Momo Game, was related to the suicide of a 12-year-old girl.
Then earlier this year, it was associated with an incident in Ireland where an eight-year-old boy claimed that someone using the image told him to get a kitchen knife out of a drawer and hold it to his neck.
This has lead to wild speculation that this image and the "Momo Challenge" or "Momo Game" has been leading children to hurt themselves, which lead Youtube to officially respond.
