A Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson implausibly denied allegations by human rights groups that the Russian Air Force had caused civilian casualties during its airstrikes in Syria. Amnesty International this week released a report holding Russian airstrikes in Syria responsible for the death of at least 200 civilians and massive destruction in residential areas. The report alleges that Russia launched indiscriminate airstrikes on both military and civilian targets including medical facilities. The NGO said that such behavior can be constituted as a war crime.
