A group of Black Lives Matter University of Wisconsin System students interrupted a meeting of the Board of Regents on Friday to read their list of demands for improving the experiences of minority students on UW campuses. The protest was one of two demonstrations at the Regents' busy Friday meeting in Madison, after faculty members protested planned changes to the System's tenure policies. UW System President Ray Cross read a statement before the students' protest in which he acknowledged the system is not "where we need to be" on issues of diversity and inclusivity. One of the students' demands was for Cross to apologize for shortcomings in that area.
