Lynchburg Police are addressing a video showing a man's arrest. It shows the officers responding to a call at a home on Stratford Road on Saturday. Xavier Crute's sister recorded the video while yelling at officers to release her brother. On Tuesday, Lynchburg police Chief Raul Diaz said someone inside the home called 9-1-1 about a domestic violence situation and possible drug use around a child. Diaz says when the officers came to the house and Crute refused to let them in. When the officers tried to detain Crute, it turned physical. You can see on video that Crute punched one the officers and bit him. He was eventually arrested and charged with assault and resisting arrest. Crute told WDBJ7 a different story. He said someone was trespassing at his mother's house on Stratford Road and he tried to stop the person from entering. He says when the police arrived he explained the situation. Crute then says one of officers hit him when he told them they could not enter the home. He and his family were present at the conference but did not comment. The Lynchburg Police Department says their officers' actions were justified. The incident remains under investigation.
