Lyman, South Carolina - Lyman police say a shoplifting suspect dragged an officer before leading deputies on a chase into Cherokee County. According to police, an officer opened a car door to detain a woman who matched the description of a suspect who shoplifted from the Dollar General on Charlotte Highway. They say the suspect, later identified as Kristina Marcy, reversed and hit the officer with the door then went forward throwing the officer to the ground. A short time later, her car was spotted by Spartanburg County Deputies who chased her northbound on I-85. The suspect was then chased to Exit 90 in Gaffney where she crashed and was taken into custody. The Lyman officer suffered minor injuries including bumps, scrapes, and bruises. Marcy was arrested and is being treated for minor injuries at a hospital. Lyman police say they will charge Marcy with shoplifting and assault on a police officer.
