Bowe Bergdahl who deserted his military post in Afghanistan and was subsequently captured by the Taliban is asking President Obama for a pardon.
In a deal that raised many eyebrows, five high-ranking Taliban leaders were released in return for Bergdahl’s freedom.
The deal was marked by an awkward ceremony in the White House Rose Garden, where Obama and Bergdahl’s parents celebrated his homecoming.
The leader of Bergdahl’s platoon is now speaking out, saying, Bowe does not deserve a pardon, he should be held accountable for his actions.
People died in the process of searching for him.
