"I Find it Offensive" ; Veteran Turned Democrat Politician Is Furious at Her Own Party for Attacking Donald Trump's Appointments of Decorated Generals

Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is breaking with many in her party who have criticized President-elect Donald Trump’s appointment of multiple generals to key Cabinet posts.



Trump has so far tapped three generals to serve in his administration: Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as national security adviser, Gen. James Mattis as defense secretary and Gen. John Kelly as homeland security secretary. If confirmed by the Senate, it would be the most generals to serve in a presidential cabinet at once since President Harry Truman, according to ABC News.



Gabbard recently went to Trump Tower in New York City to meet with the next president and is rumored to be among those Trump is considering for his Cabinet. On Thursday, the congresswoman was asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if she shares her colleagues’ concerns about the number of retired generals Trump has appointed.



“I don’t share their concerns. In fact, as a veteran and as someone who is still serving in the Hawaii National Guard, I find it pretty offensive for people to outright discriminate against veterans,” Gabbard said.
