Firefighter saves man attempting suicide by jumping off tall building

Watch the dramatic moment a firefighter stops a suicide attempt. Firefighters in Suzhou city, east China’s Anhui Province responded to calls that a man was on the 30th floor of a building, threatening to kill himself by jumping off. The man, thought to be suffering from relationship problems, was too hysterical to respond to attempts to talk him down. One firefighter quietly creeped up on the man, hiding behind pillars as he approached, and was able to successfully pull off a daring rescue attempt by grabbing the man. According to The Economist, China had one of the highest suicide rates in the world in the 1990s. But a 2014 report from the University of Hong Kong found that suicides in China have dropped dramatically to among the lowest levels in the world.
