He was rushed to hospital after his hand was torn open and he suffered severe burns in the freak accident in central Russia.

Shocking footage shows the moment the man is engulfed in bright white light as the firework explodes in his face and knocks him to the ground.

The horrifying incident was caught by a reveller who was trying to film the fireworks above the city.

His friends can be seen running away from the man as he prepares to light up a load of fireworks.

Seconds later the pyrotechnic explodes and he falls to the ground.

Online viewers did not have much sympathy for the man when they watched the video, which has since gone viral.

Vikotria Morshikhina said: 'Seems that he was drunk. He could have lost his fingers, what a lucky b*****d he is.'

Prokhor Kuzyakin, added: 'What an idiot. He is the only one to blame for his problems.'
