A Bengal tiger was spotted on the loose in the Sicilian town of Monreale, Saturday, after escaping from a Swedish circus.
Residents barricaded themselves in their homes, whilst the tiger was trapped and surrounded by special police in a private parking lot in front of a ceramic shop. Traffic was blocked for a few hours along the highway, in order to avoid any incidents. The alarm was raised that the tiger had escaped at around 09:00 (08:00 GMT).
The white tiger, named Oscar, was captured after two hours on the loose, under the supervision of trainers from the circus and local police. Oscar the tiger was not sedated, in order to avoid harming the animal, and was safely transported in a cage back to the circus.
