Meeting with African American leaders at the White House Wednesday, President Trump marked the beginning of Black History Month, saying, “During this month, we honor the tremendous history of the African Americans throughout our country.”
Trump described the experience of African Americans as “one of unimaginable sacrifice, hard work, and faith in America.”
However, Trump, never one to pass up combat with the press, cited the “fake news” story that he removed the bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office, pointing at the media as he did.
Trump also expressed the hope that he would expand on his 2016 performance with African Americans in 2020.
