Explosive experts have successfully detonated a 500lb German World War Two bomb which forced schools and homes to be evacuated.
A four-man team from the Royal Navy's Southern
Diving Unit destroyed the bomb in a controlled demolition at Shrewburyness Range near Southend, Essex, at 11.30am on Saturday after defusing it.
A school, nursery and homes were evacuated on Thursday after the unexploded device was found in north-west London, forcing local residents to shelter in a church overnight.
