Speaking at a Facebook Live interview at the SXSW conference on Friday, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) said that, under President Obama, “rich people have gotten a lot richer.”
Booker criticized the Republican health care plan for cutting taxes on “the richest Americans,” before adding, “who, by the way, have done really well under Obama.”
Booker then said “the disparity,” while moving his hands apart and mumbling the rest of his sentence. Booker’s gestures indicated he was referencing a growing gap between rich and poor in the United States.
Despite disproving his own point, Booker continued to criticize Republicans for favoring the rich with their health care plan, completely forgetting how much the Obama administration favored America’s most affluent.
