Representative Keith Ellison (D-MI) admitted on New Day Friday that “we don’t know” about any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence, but called for continued investigations.
Ellison began to call the supposed scandal “far worse than Watergate,” and then asserted that “the collusion of the sitting administration” helped Russia swing the election to President Trump.
Host Alisyn Camerota challenged Ellison: “You don’t know that. Hold on. Congressman, you said that the collusion, there’s no evidence that there’s collusion.”
Ellison interjected, admitting a lack of any evidence: “Well, we don’t know it. We don’t know it. We don’t know it.”
Ellison qualified his previous accusation of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence, instead calling for continued investigations into connections. Ellison cited meetings between Russian officials and Trump campaign surrogates as raising questions that needed answering.
