Firefighters successfully rescued a ten-year-old boy who fell into a ten-meter dry well in east China's Shandong province on Monday.
The dry well was located in a remote area in Licheng district, Jinan city. Fortunately, a passerby found the boy trapped and made calls. Firefighters soon arrived at the scene and started the rescue.
As the mouth of the well was too narrow, the rescue team decided to choose a short firefighter to enter. Tied with a belt, the firefighter slowly slid down to the well bottom with his arms and legs pushing against the slippery well wall.
The firefighter used his waist rope and plate to fix the boy. To prevent possible secondary harm to the boy by falling clod from the above, the firefighter covered the boy's head with his uniform.
After 20 minutes of emergent rescue, the firefighters managed to pull the boy up from the well. The boy was sent to hospital immediately as his leg was fractured in the accident.
