OGDEN Utah — Police body camera (2) and surveillance camera (1) video released by Ogden City administrators Friday of an officer-involved shooting a man in an underground garage.
The incident occurred on Feb. 21, 2017. Ogden police said that 2 officers patrolling a parking lot Building at 2400 S. Washington Blvd., saw two men "prowling around unoccupied vehicles." The officers chased one of the men though the retail complex, before police say he pulled a handgun on them.
Surveillance video released Friday showed the man running from the officers, then turning and raising to be a gun at the officers as they were approaching. The officers fired at the man and was fatally shot.
Police said The man is identified as Bartolo Justice Sambrano, 25.
Police said he had warrants for his arrest out of Ogden and Idaho and had recently walked away from the Weber County Jail work release program.
A public information officer with the Ogden Police Department said the department's internal investigation found that the officers acted in accordance with their policy.
the case was still under investigation by the Weber County Attorney's Office.
Ogden is a city and the county seat of Weber County, Utah, United States, approximately 10 miles east of the Great Salt Lake and 40 miles north of Salt Lake City. The population was 84,316 in 2014, according to the US Census Bureau.
