On Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called on Senate Democrats to filibuster President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, but Schumer previously thought that a Supreme Court Justice didn’t need 60 votes.
“After careful deliberation, I have concluded that I cannot support Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court,” Schumer said during his opening remarks on the Senate floor.
“He will have to earn 60 votes for confirmation. My vote will be no, and I urge my colleagues to do the same.”
