AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka praised President Trump at the National Press Club Tuesday for using the “bully pulpit” of the presidency to save American jobs.
“Even before taking office, President Trump used his bully pulpit to tell companies to stay put,” Trumka said. “And a few have actually listened to him, and that’s a good thing.”
Trumka said that future presidents should follow Trump’s lead. “Every president should fight to fight to keep good jobs here,” the labor leader said.
Trump’s actions to save jobs “means one more family can pay down the mortgage or save for college or retire with dignity,” according to Trumka.
Trumka endorsed Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.
