Rep. Joaquin Castro (D., Texas) claimed on Tuesday that associates of President Donald Trump will go to prison as a result of the investigation into ties with Russian entities, yet offered no evidence as to why.
CNN host Wolf Blitzer asked Castro if he had seen any evidence of collusion between associates of Trump and Russian entities. Castro turned to his prediction that those associates will go to prison.
"Have you seen any hard evidence of collusion yet?" Blitzer asked.
"I guess I would say this, that my impression is I wouldn't be surprised after all of this is said and done that some people end up in jail," Castro said.
Blitzer asked Castro about his suspicion, and how high up he believe the collusion went. Castro said that "is to be determined."
"You want to elaborate a little bit on that, give us a little bit more?" Blitzer said. "Because that's obviously a very intriguing statement."
"I wish I could, but I can't at this time," Castro responded.
Castro said the evidence was classified, but "if [he] were betting" he would say Trump associates would go to jail.
