A driver in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region recently drove his off-road vehicle into a street lamp, after quarreling with his wife on the phone.
Surveillance footage shows that at 02:10 of April 5, an off-road vehicle smashed down a street in Heshan City. The vehicle kept going for several meters before fully stopping.
After police arrived, they found fragments of vehicle and lamp scattered everywhere on the road. The front of the vehicle was distorted severely, with its windshield broken and two airbags deployed.
The lamp was smashed into pieces.
The driver narrowly escaped with no injuries.
He first refused to admit he was the vehicle owner, but later confessed the whole thing.
"According to his account, he was driving northward along Renmin Middle Road and quarreling with his wife on the phone. When he passed the accident site, he was so agitated that he jerked the steering wheel. The speed was high so the vehicle smashed into the side of the road, then the lamp and a stone seat before stopping," said Ling Wanxian, police officer of Traffic Police Brigade of Heshan Police Station.
