An AFL fan has been filmed allegedly launching a racist tirade against a Brisbane Lions trainer after shocking footage shows the man yell 'go back to the f***ing Chinese takeaway'.
The allegedly racist attack was filmed by a fellow AFL fan at the Lions vs Western Bulldogs match at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Footage shows the angry football fan lean over the barrier and yell towards the field, 'go back to the f***ing Chinese takeaway you d***head, in a tirade believed to be targeted towards the Lions trainer.
A shocked onlooker filmed the man, who wore a black shirt and pants and glasses, as he shouted from the stands.
The man who filmed the incident claimed the racist rant was unleashed after a Lions trainer caused a 50m penalty, 7News reports.
'The man, of Asian descent, accidentally ran across Bob Murphy's mark kicking for goal causing a 50m penalty,' he said.
'Fans were disgusted and staff were notified. A gentleman behind me took notes on his seating and section number, and passed it onto the staff at the ground.'
Etihad stadium management have said it is investigating the claims and are working with police to identify the man, according to the Herald Sun.
It comes only weeks after AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan warned fans the sport has 'zero tolerance' for racism and told 'racist' fans to not bother attending the matches.
'There are still isolated instances and we're going to keep tackling them, we're going to keep calling them out,' said McLachlan told reporters.
'We have got a zero tolerance approach to this (but) we can do more and we will do more.'
McLachlan was referring to an incident where Port Adelaide supporter, Maxine Spratt, 31, was reported by South Australian police on Tuesday for calling Eddie Betts an 'ape'.
Spratt took to Facebook in a racist rant, and wrote the Crows forward 'should go back to the zoo where him and his family belong'.
Victoria Police said they are investigating the incident and encourage any witnesses to come forward.
