A woman thought to be a member of North East for Europe was filmed apparently grabbing a woman holding a drink in the street by the nose.
Wearing Ugg-style boots and heart-shaped sunglasses, the Remainer appears to pull at the other woman’s white jumper.
The pair fell to the ground before being pulled away from one another.
A red drink can be seen splashed across the pair’s faces as the apparent Ukip supporter brandished her slip-on shoe that had flopped off.
The woman with the drink states: ‘You attacked me. There was no need for that – none whatsoever. Look at what she’s done.’
When a member of the public asked her: ‘Why did you punch her?’
She quickly responded: ‘I didn’t punch her she attacked me. She accused me of being drunk. I’m not drunk.
‘I’m 62 years old, look at the state of my legs. How dare you do that to me.
‘I live in Hartlepool and I have a right to say what I want to say.’
The woman claims to have ‘never had a drink’ and to ‘be on medication.’
She then adds she: ‘Came back into this country March 21. I’d been abroad to see my family in New Zealand. I’m allowed to go out of this country when I want. So don’t tell me who I am or what I am doing.
‘You have no right to pull my hair and attack me. I threw that drink, with juice, and I didn’t pull your hair. Go away.
‘You need to learn to manage – you need to go to a church and ask for forgiveness.
The incident occurred in the North East city of Hartlepool, where Ukip leader Paul Nuttal began campaigning.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police confirmed officers attended the scene.
