A scuba diving instructor has captured incredible footage of a monster 14-foot stingray swimming underneath unsuspecting surfers at Bondi Beach.
Joe Phillips was watching the sunset at the iconic Sydney beach when his drone captured the amazing footage of the enormous stingray at 5pm on Sunday.
The 25-year-old couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted the gargantuan ray, which he thought was a rock, swimming underneath surfers just 25 metres from the shore.
The monster ray is believed to have been a stingray – the same animal which killed Australian celebrity crocodile hunter Steve Irwin at the age of 44 in Queensland in 2006.
Stingrays are often found in shallow coastal waters in mild seas.
The stingray has a sharp barb that can produce fatal venom.
