22-year-old Son of Libyan Immigrants, Salman Abedi, Is behind the Terrorist Attacks That Left 22 Dead in Manchester

U.S. officials have identified the suspect in the deadly Manchester bombing that killed 22 people - some of them children - attending an Ariana Grande concert last night.



A U.S. official told Reuters the suspect in the bombing has been identified as Salman Abedi or Salman Ramadan Abedi. Abedi is believed to have travelled to Manchester from London by train. He allegedly set off a bomb in the entryway of the concert last night, killing himself and other attendees and injuring almost 60 more.



The coroner has not officially identified the bomber.



According to the Telegraph, the suicide bomber is 22-years-old. Abedi was born in Manchester in 1994, the second youngest of four children of Libyan refugees. He lived just yards from a girls high school attended by twins Zahra and Salma Halane, who made national news in 2015, when they left their home to join ISIS in Syria.



Law enforcement in the UK are trying to determine if Abedi was part of a wider cell or operating on his own. An arrest was made late Monday that police said was in connection to the attack but aren't providing more details other than a 23-year-old man was taken into custody.



Police have conducted at least two raids today in Manchester.
