Shocking footage has emerged online today showing a dog being dragged by a car in southeastern China.
The dog was being forcefully dragged on a leash by its master who had one arm out of the window.
Onlookers believed that the dog had been dragged for more than six miles.
Pear stated that the incident could impedes the driver from driving motor vehicle safely and could have fined for 100 yuan (£11.42) and received two demerit points.
Jason Baker, Vice President of PETA Asia Office, told MailOnline that although the Chinese government had promised a comprehensive animal welfare act over a decade, citizens were appalled and saddened by such cruel acts.
'Research in psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty against animals often go on to commit violent acts on humans,' said Baker.
PETA urged for a stop in animal abuse and suggested people to contact them for spotting any abusive acts on animals.
